Are you gentle with yourself? It is so much easier to send love out than to send love in and love ourselves. Yet this is where our self-confidence and our sense of self-worth starts. If we don’t love or respect ourselves, how can we expect others to?
This is also relevant to our careers. We need to respect ourselves first before others will respect us. We need to ask for what we need. How can our colleagues know unless we tell them? We work overtime and feel resentful of it but does our boss know about the overtime we are working? We want to undertake professional development but how will your HR Manager know your ambitions and support you in them if you don’t voice them?
It starts with putting ourselves and our needs first. Not in a selfish way but in an assertive, loving, and gentle way.
It is also about letting go. Let life flow. Don’t try to organise it. Instead be mindful and insightful like a wise sage. Be gentle and listen. Listen to your inner voice and act on that.
Listen to what your colleagues are saying between the lines. Listen for the truth. Forgive yourself and forgive others. Move forward towards impact and real change. Deep-rooted insightful change. Be the change that the world needs. This change will come from action but it will also come from inaction. Inaction that helps us see the truth better. Inaction that allows us to filter the relevant from the irrelevant. Inaction that gives us space and time to have insight into the way forward.
So go gently into your career. Be gentle with yourself, be gentle with others, and allow this gentleness to create the space for insight, impact, and love.
