Five tips for kick-ass meetings!

9/28/2019

Meetings take up a huge amount of work life and yet research shows that most meetings are inefficient and a waste of time. Here are five tips to help you improve your meetings:

  1. Don’t default to the Outlook times. Instead, try a 45 minute meeting.
  2. Having a 1:1 meeting? Go for a walk rather than sitting in a meeting room.
  3. Re-organise the meeting room furniture to help make your meeting run more smoothly. For example, want people to pay attention and not be on their laptops? Take away the tables.
  4. Use post-it notes to gather input from all participants rather than just those who are the loudest.
  5. Consider a stand-up meeting for meetings with more than two people that you want to keep short.

Journaling every day has changed my life. That may seem like a bold statement about something usually thought of as fairly innocuous. But when I think back to before I started journaling  - that is writing down my inner thoughts once a day in my journal - I have experienced profound changes physically, emotionally, even spiritually. And doors have opened for me in my personal and professional life.
